Every stitch started with a sketch.
To celebrate National Sausage Roll Day - and inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry's return to the UK - Greggs created 'Ta-Pastry', an eight-metre embroidered retelling of the great British sausage roll's place in history, was displayed at the Design Museum, London, last week.

Greggs and Jubba brought us the scenes they wanted to tell, we designed and illustrated each one, then scaled them up as vector artwork so the embroiderers had a perfect, pin-sharp guide to work from.
The style needed to be fairly simple in order to make the embroiders work easier. One of the main challenges was working out the layout and making sure the flow of each section worked and fitted seamlessly.
Not bad for a week's turnaround if you ask us!
