A client's guide to animatics

We know commissioning animatics, especially for the very first time, can be an intimidating task. Here’s a simple guide to help you get to grips with animatics.

For animatics, the team usually consists of a producer, animators, artists and sound. We are sent a script & receive a brief from the agency. Then we set up a meeting with our clients to understand their ideas & learn more clearly what they are looking for.

At the meeting we share a variety of our styles 2D, 3D, Photoreal & Mixed Media. Then a budget and schedule are created by us which is then approved by our team. Once that is approved, we can get the ball rolling with creating your animatic.

We handpick the artists & animators who are best suited to the project. Using this team we go through four artwork stages for client approval.

Scamps: these are very rough thumbnail drawings

Trace: a more defined version of drawings

Line:  an even more detail version of the drawing

Colour: final touches of colour added bringing your vision to life

Once the artwork is complete, it is sent for editing while final sound is being recorded. Then we compote the animation, sound and background together to produce your final animatic.

This is shown to the agency and client for approval. Once approved it’s time for the rendering When the render is complete the project is wrapped and sent to the agency.

In some months the project may be seen on telly!
